How to Combat Anxiety
Living with anxiety is a serious issue for many people. Millions of people who suffer from it are constantly searching for a way to escape it. The last 2 years have increased many people's anxiety including my own. Learning to control anxiety can be a long process and may require other support.
However, there are many ways to cope with and combat anxiety. I love any non-pharmaceutical options as they come with little to no risk of side effects. I have witnessed friends and family struggling with increased depression, SAD, insomnia, anxiety, and other mental health issues.
Exercise
Exercise serves as a great way to combat anxiety. To some, it may initially seem arduous and tiresome, but for so many people suffering from anxiety, it quickly becomes essential. When you are physically active, your body releases endorphins that are responsible for new brain cell growth and stimulation needed to focus. It also helps promotes higher self-esteem.
Studies show that exercise can help enhance people's mood from mild to moderate, which is also necessary for combating anxiety. Exercise is often considered a healthier alternative than taking medications to treat anxiety because, if performed correctly, it has virtually no downside.
Mindset
Another way to help combat anxiety is to nurture a healthy mindset by focusing on a healthy perspective and mindfulness.
Many people suffering from anxiety view their life as a game, and not a fun one. However, they may be looking at the wrong things. Many things that happen in life can be viewed as positive things. Just because you experience negative things doesn’t mean your whole life is negative, or that you should give up. You need to view those negative things as essential opportunities for you to succeed in the future.
I will admit that this is an area that I struggle with. I am blessed that I have a husband that sees the world through much more positive eyes than myself. Admittedly, this can be really annoying when I want someone to commiserate with. But, it truly is a blessing to have someone that can help me find some positives in my situation.
Adopting a positive mindset offers a huge array of benefits in your life. It prevents your body from reacting to those negative things happening in your life. It also gives you a chance to live happier and more satisfied with the things that you already have, even the simplest things.
I remember reading a quote years ago. I can't remember it but it was something about seeing the world through positive eyes is a choice. It changes your focus each day and when you look back on your life all your memories won't be negative. This is certainly a muscle that I am still developing but feel so much better when I take the time to acknowledge the positive.
Brain Entrainment
Audio-Visual Entrainment (AVE) is a technique that uses pulses of light and sound at specific frequencies to gently and safely guide the brain into various brainwave patterns. By altering your brainwave frequencies, you can boost your mood, improve sleep patterns, sharpen your mind, and increase relaxation levels, all with the simple push of a button!
AVE is an amazing way to shorten the amount of time it takes to dramatically improve your mental health. I personally went through a very stressful 2021 and started having panic attacks for the first time in my life. I was put on medication but then started to read about all the side effects. Things like elevated cholesterol and blood sugars along with increased food cravings. None of these things was I interested in having an impact on my long-term physical health. So I started investigating non-pharmaceutical options. That's when I found AVE.
I used to feel like a rubber band about to snap. That feeling is now gone. My sisters, mom and daughter are all using AVE now to help with stress, anxiety, sleep and improved cognition. I am thrilled that I have another tool to support my health.
Some benefits of AVE
- produce situationally-appropriate brainwave frequencies through the process of entrainment (the tendency of physiological processes to mirror environmental stimuli).
- AVE also increases cerebral blood flow (blood flow in the brain) and increases the metabolization of glucose in the brain for improved functioning of the neurons. The combined outcome of these processes is improved mental performance.
- an effective, inexpensive alternative therapy for many disorders such as anxiety, ADHD, seasonal affective disorder (SAD), PTSD, fibromyalgia, and chronic pain.
- used successfully to boost physical performance for athletes, academic performance for students, business performance and corporate wellness, and cognitive performance for seniors.
- a one-time cost for years of benefits.
- experience feelings of profound relaxation and contentment as beneficial neurotransmitters such as dopamine (involved in reward, motivation, memory and attention) and serotonin (considered a natural mood stabilizer) are released into the brain.

These are just three significant and effective ways to combat anxiety. There are many more approaches that range from changes in eating habits and emotional behaviours to being more selective about your social circle. Improve your awareness of yourself. Take small steps. Pay attention to what makes you anxious and learn how to deal with those situations little by little until you begin to feel in control of your anxiety.
